Sunroom sensation!

When the winter blahs settle in, grab a good book and nestle in this sensational sunroom retreat. We loved redoing this sunny room located on the East side of the house. A summer cottage feeling was in order as well as a desire to perch tired feet up on the oversized ottomans. When the sun gets too glaring draw the Conrad shades. The sisal area rug bound with leather is a quiet finish to the pillow-top limestone tile floor. We love the mix of washed linen fabrics from Raoul Textiles and Clarence House. And who can resist the turquoise glazed lamps?

MSPMAG Party Blog

Who: American Society of Interior Designers
What: ASID Awards Gala 2011
When: November 10, 2011
Where: IMS
Why: To honor the time, talent and expertise of ASIDMembers who make Minnesota one of the top chapters in the nation

Every year, over 200 interior designers from the Minnesota chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers, showroom professionals, architects, builders, artisans, and other design insiders gather to celebrate the year’s most outstanding interior design projects. Between the very stylish attendees, images of the many stunning projects, and Russell Toscano’s fragrant and fabulous flowers, the gala is always a glittering affair.

There were 82 entries this year, with many exquisite projects from San Francisco to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Manhattan and the Twin Cities, so the competition was tough and the judging was rigorous.

Lucy Penfield of Lucy Interior Design, in an haute pink dress, took top honors with Best in Show and two first place awards.

The winning projects will be on display at International Market Square for one year, so be sure to stop by and marvel at the incredible breadth and depth of talent in our local design community. To view the complete list of awards, visit mspmag.com.

ASID AWARDS Best in Show

Our serene palette of lake blue, mossy green and washed sand mimics the relaxing atmosphere of lake living. Shimmering in iridescent hues, the glass and stone tile wall is the signature for our kitchen. Wrapping teak framed windows and views of the sculpture garden the mosaic tile accentuates the sloped ceiling. Lime-washed beech floors and oiled teak ceiling, create soothing shades of sand. Tracked in by little feet, sand from the beach, is undetectable. Cool tones of Mocha, stainless and white add contrast to the pales. Sunshine pours in the expansive windows providing breathtaking views and window treatments were considered a sin with our prevailing design principles. Quietly compelling, the kitchen is visually composed as a respite from the clutter at home.

Moroccan Blue Jewel!

The jewel bathroom is the Piece de Resistance in our remodel project for a lower level lounge. The signature Moroccan blue glass tile wall is the design statement. Luminous artisan made tin sconces are reflected by the inset mirror. Fountain-like faucet and partially submerged sink caps the distinctive enameled vanity. The blue-note terrazzo floor tile from Waterworks is fabulous. We love the dramatic mood of this bathroom!
